Term 1
For this weeks assignment, we were told to take photos of power lines and play grounds. The first three photos are the play ground half of it. They were all taken at the Dighton community play ground. The first one is like a mini bridge. I thought the way the lines passed through each other at the angle I took it at and the way it stands out even in black and white. The second picture is of a spiral slide. I tried to get a picture of it that almost seemed like you were partially looking up it.the third was a giant game of tic tac toe. The way it's made had made it better for the rule of thirds because in a 9x9 grid. And now for the power line half. The first picture was taken outside of my house. it was a challenge to make it look good because of all of the vegetation around it. That's what I get for living in Berkley, A.K.A Cowtown, U.S.A. The fifth and sixth photos turned out better because these were taken in Dighton, across the street from the play ground. It's nothing too special. One of a telephone pole and another of a street light. But the street light photo has me thinking about taking more photos around street lights and night. Maybe later in the year I'll be able to do that. I'm happy with the way most of these turned out. The fourth one could have been better but it also could have been worse. Either way, enjoy!

For this assignment, we had to take six individual photos of objects that have pattern or texture to them. the first photo I took was of a stone wall outside my house, since I live in Berkley, there used to be a lot of farming land around there and a lot of the walls still stand. The tree and the white fence were also outside of my house and though they could be good subjects for the photos. The tree for texture with the moss growing on the bark and the fence for pattern. The fourth photo was one I had leftover from the last assignment that was taken at the mills in Taunton. It had a good pattern to it with the exception of a few broken windows. Although I think the broken windows make the picture a little more interesting. The last two show a little bit of who I am, along with the assignment. I took a picture of the tearing on my vest and my bass neck and though those would be good for both pattern and texture. The individual ripple of the thick, metal strings and the rough bearings of the denim make good subjects for texture, in my opinion. For a lot of these I wanted to get up real close to show the detail of either pattern or texture and so people can make out just about everything in the photos to make them as captivating as possible. If I had to retake any of these, I'd want to retake either the wall or the fence because the natural lighting wasn't the greatest and I tried to get better lighting on different days for it but it never turned out to be as good as I had hoped and what I have there is the best I could get for both. I still tried my best with every one of them and I hope everyone can enjoy them. The next assignment I have is power lines and playgrounds. I have good ideas for those and hopefully those will turn out great. The first assignment of the year is complete. I'm really proud with how these turned out. The first one is my Fender Stratocaster at an angle where it seems like you're looking up the guitar. The second and third ones, my personal favorites, were taken at an abandon mill in the weirs in Taunton. The fourth picture was taken outside of the Berkley Elementary school. The fifth photo was taken at a park in Assonet where they have fireworks during the 4th of July. And the last 2 were taken on and off of the Berkley-Dighton Bridge. I hope everyone enjoys these! |
